Collection of photos of Moscow in 1913 and 2003
Unusual exhibition will be opened in The State Pushkin Museum. You will be able to see there photos of the streets, alleyways and nooks of Moscow, these photos were made in 1913 and 2003 years and, possibly, from the same places with the superposition of the perspective.

Moscow is the third Rome
There was opened an exhibition "Moscow is the third Rome" in the Museum of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. You can see on the exhibition Christian relics, ancient manuscripts, monuments of Slavic book culture, work of art from funds of the Museum of Moscow history, the Central museum of Old Russian culture and art named by Andrey Rublyov, the State Russian archive of ancient acts, the Russian state library

Photos of the War
There was opened an exhibition showing us photos of the Great Patriotic War in the Central Museum of Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. The exhibition shows us images of compatriots, a breast rising on the protection of the Motherland. The exhibition in the generalized and imaginative form shows us a cruel face of war and the hardest way of nation since the first days of it till the victorious salute in May 1945.

Eduardo Chillida. Silent Music
On 10 October, 2003, in the Foyer of the Hermitage Theater opened an exhibition organized by the State Hermitage Museum jointly with the Embassy of Spain in Russia, acting on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, and the Museo Chillida-Leku. The Hermitage exhibition is the first display in Russia of the works of Eduardo Chillida (1924-2002), the prominent Spanish sculptor and graphic artist of the 20th century. The retrospective show includes over 30 works spanning the period from 1954 to 1997. These are sculptures made from steel and terra-cotta, drawings which the master himself called "gravitations", and books. What they have in common is music, which had a vital importance for the outstanding Spanish sculptor. The Spanish organizers have issued a catalogue of the exhibition. The exhibition idea was proposed by the artist's son Ignacio Chillida and the Spanish curator Marisa Oropesa. The Russian curator is D.Yu. Ozerkov of the Hermitage Department of West European Art, which has prepared the show.

Etchings of the XVI-XX centuries
Etchings of the XVI-XX centuries. Selected prints from the collection of the Engraving Cabinets of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.

September 8 to November 16.This continuation of exhibitions from the series, "Techniques of Engraving," reflects the richest collections of the Engraving Cabinet of the Pushkin Museum. It presents a unique opportunity to trace the development of the art of engraving and etching through five centuries. Works displayed include those of the great masters Callot, Rembrandt, Piranesi, Tiepolo, and Goya, who defined the turning points in the development of etching. Many other artists, who vividly represent techniques and trends of etching throughout centuries and national schools, also have prints on display. The exhibit includes a total of 346 works by 158 artists. The Russian engravers I. Shishkin, L. Pasternak, and V. Serov among others are displayed alongside the works of the European masters in the halls dedicated to the artwork of the 18th to early 20th centuries.

The Stroganoffs: Art Patrons and Collectors
On 14 October, 2003, in the Anteroom and Nicholas Hall of the Winter Palace (rooms No. 191 and 192) opened an exhibition devoted to the famous Stroganoff family which from the middle of the 15th till the end of the 19th centuries played an important role in the political, economic and cultural life of Russia. The outstanding quality of the various works of art of a few centuries emphasize the uniqueness of the Stroganoff collections. The exhibition showcases 370 objects, which previously belonged to various members of the family. The display includes paintings, sculptures, drawings, applied art and coins coming from Russia, Europe, and the East, from antiquity till the 19th century. The exhibition is organized by the Hermitage jointly with the Russian Museum, the former Imperial Residence in Pavlovsk, the Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Russian National Archive of History and the Museum of History and Arts in Solvychegodsk, and is supported by the Stroganoff Foundation. The exhibition is intended to show the important role that the Stroganoff dynasty played in Russia's cultural life. Slaviya Publishers of St. Petersburg has issued an illustrated academic catalogue of the exhibition.

The Guards of St. Petersburg
In the foyer of a small hall of the Scientific - cultural centre of Pushkinskiy museum - reserve was opened an exhibition of the art photo devoted to the 300 anniversary of the northern capital of Russia - Saint Petersburg. It is going to be opened till 10 November. The name of this exhibition is "The Guards of St. Petersburg "; Lydia Chehovich, a talented photographer, is an author of the exhibition.
Unearthly worlds of the earthly painters
There was opened an exhibition "Unearthly worlds of the earthly painters" in the International Center-Museum named after N. Rerih on the 12th of October. This exhibition is carried out under the International Science Conference "Cosmic Ideology - new intellection of the XXI century". You will be able to see about 120 works by the modern space-painters. You can visit it till the 8th of November.
The architecture of 1900s at the exhibition
On 10 October 2003 in the Petropavlovskaya Fortress was opened an exhibition "The architecture of 1900s: Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, St. Petersburg", organized by The State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg jointly with the Museum of the Estonian Architecture, Swedish museum of architecture, Latvian museum of architecture and the Museum of the Finnish Architecture. Projects, drafts, photos, models of the architectural constructions, picturesque and graphic products submitted in this exposition, will tell us about architectural development of five capitals of the Baltic region on a boundary of XIX and XX centuries. You can visit it till the 16th of November.

Art of the Yaroslavl and Kostroma lands
